He was Roman Catholic but some of his works were prohibited reading, and he also had a theological theory that stated that man was independent of gods will. so he wasnt a popular guy.

Yes because he 'deigned' to think to know that he was.  Trouble is that he didn't realize that he was just programmed to think that he thunk.
