  1. well the hose was probably a vacuum hose so i highly doubt that this would cause a no start condition and as for the gas cap the only thing your going to get from that missing is a possible service engine soon lamp illuminated and a little gas loss due to evaporation.. as for the no start condition, it could be a number of things but sounds like a bad fuel pump from your description.. go out to the vehicle and have someone turn the key on to RUN while you put your ear to where the missing gas cap is supposed to go and if you hear a distinct "HUMM" then it is working if not, ur pump is bad.. if you do hear a humm. then your vehicle should go to the garage for service.. if you dont, you need a new fuel pump, you can do this job yourself but it is very complicated so you may choose to take your vehicle to a qualifies service center but regardless ALWAYS install a new pump installing a used one, will come back to haunt you in the near future.... good luck!

  2. Gas cap wont keep it from running. Dont put your ear to the gas tank to see if it's the fuel pump, that is the improper way to test fuel pressure obviously. It might be the pump as a well a number of other things. To condemn a fuel pump, take a test light, make sure it's getting power then hook a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail, check fuel pressure and compare to the specs. You can get the specs from alldata or mitchell on demand.
