Late in the evening on Monday, June 30, possible early July 1, 2008, we saw a very bright and seemingly very close shooting star that looked quite blue, ending in sparks, from Bruce County south of Collingwood, Ontario. Did anyone else see this spectacular shooting star? Or was it a meteorite?

  1. Hey there - just read your posting - we were sitting by the little lake near our house enjoying a cold beverage when we (all four of us) saw the amazing meteorite.  It lasted about five seconds - it was awesome.  We are in the St. Clements/St. Jacobs area west of Waterloo and we saw it to our north so it must have been somewhere in between us.

  2. Sounds like a meteor. Very rarely you see big, slow moving ones that break up in mid air, so they appear to split into separate "sparks", as you said.

  3. Hehe if it was a meteorite, it would hit.

    Meteors burn up, not meteorites.

I wasn't there and I'm having trouble finding anything about it on the web. Sorry.
