I saw that movie "The Day after Tomorrow" and it was about a worldwide ice age that happened overnight. Hopefully that's not possible, but the thought of it is horrifying.

If another ice age is coming sooner than 80,000 years and it's going to be a mega cold 100 degrees below zero ice age, I just hope I'll be dead before then. I feel sorry for all those babies and little kids. They may never even get the chance to enjoy burning rubber in a cool-looking V8 sports car. Besides, Hybrids are slow and ugly.

  1. Thoroughly impossible.  The biggest howler was when the "scientists" mentioned that the temperature was dropping 10 degrees per second- the only way to produce such a rapid drop is to completely evacuate the atmosphere, meaning that all of the characters would have suffocated to death in a matter of minutes.

Overall, I've seen more scientific credibility in James Bond movies than in this bomb.

  2. im pretty sure it's fiction

  3. Fiction. Remember, ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING is possible in the movies.

  4. Fantasy,  Fiction will at very least have some semblance of reality.

  5. yes the part about the tornados are true. that could happen from global warming.but the ice part absoulty not. that is the best movie i am the weather freak at my schoolm so i have watched it a ton of times. go to a book store and get the book called 2012. it is a good book.

  6. Look at the bright side.  In 50 years if we're here, everyone in primary and secondary schools today will be talking about how "They predicted Global Cooling back in aught-eight".  They'll have knowing looks of intergalactic genius on their faces.

  7. On the history channel there was a program recently that talked about pailoindians.  In this it also talked about a devestating world wide event that practally wiped all the human race off the face of the Earth.  This was an ice age.  It happened so fast that woolymamoths were found with food still in there throats, saber toothtigers found with undigested food in their mouths as well.  In order for that to happen the temp would have had to drop extrememly drastically very, very fast.

  8. The closest reality has ever come to such a drastic change in such a short period of time (that we know of) happened in the year 1816:  The Year Without a Summer.  The cause was most likely volcanic activity.

Now you've got me wondering how many of these ...... Northerners moved down here to the South because of that movie...

  9. It is a great exaggeration.  The *basis* is a shutdown of the thermohaline conveyor, which *could* cause some cooling for a while, but nothing so dramatic as HollyWood made it.

  10. It must be true because Al Gore used clips of it for An Inconvienient Truth.

  11. Actually a huge wave could possibly put NYC underwater(ive seen 2 documentaries on it and I think its in the movie)...Sad news for me, I live in NJ

  12. Pure fiction.  It's possible that melting ice from glaciers and ice shelves could dilute the Atlantic Ocean and cause the thermal conveyor to shut down, sending Europe into a mini ice age.  But not the whole planet.
