Question:

Was that not the best match you've ever seen? Federer vs. Nadal?

I really praise roger for getting out of all those breakpoints and match points, that guy does not choke, and nadal does not miss with his forehand either. I think all that left hand spin really hurts federers shots, that ball is either too low or too high most of time, and a backhand no matter how good can't predict it.

  1. Yes,it was! ♥I hope Roger will raise his level soon(he played very well this time but was not enough)

  2. I fell asleep after the rain delay, it was already after midnight in my country, and who knows when will the match starts again.

It was an awesome match, though I was rooting for Federer. Nadal really has a huge potential!

  3. This was definitely a 10+ in entertainment value.  To see Nadal and Federer persist through rain delays, loss of a set, and the length of the match was really something.  This is one of those times when neither deserved to lose.  I'm sure this match will become a standard for excellence!

  4. yes, by far i think the best sporting contest i've ever watched. I'm only 21 so i didn't get to see the Mohammed Ali v George Foreman fight, or the 1981 Wimbledon final between Bjorg and McEnroe, but in terms of what i have seen, considering the level federer and nadal played at today, some of the best tennis ive ever seen, such finely tuned athletes, and so skilled, with federer so elegant, and nadal all about power and fitness, it was the best sporting contest i've ever watched. AMAZING match!!!

plus, the atmosphere, the fading light etc....5 times defending champ chasing a record, etc, all added to the occasion to make it the best ever.

  5. I agree with you on all counts. I don't think I have ever seen a match this intense, this difficult. Watching it, you almost hated seeing one guy win and one guy lose. It's matches like this when you really hate the fact that there must be a loser. I believe Andre Agassi said it best in describing these kind of matches. He said: "TENNIS WINS!!!"

  6. yes

  7. I liked last years final better, but that is because I'm a Roger fan. But yes, Rafa deserved the title today and Roger made him work extra hard to win it. In the future I'd like to see them meet in the finals at the U.S. Open and Australian Open.

  8. I was so tired from jumping and cheering for Nadal you would have thought I had been playing. I am so glad Rafa came through. I kept saying, "this 1981 all over again. It's your day, Rafa!"

  9. yeah definitely!! i totally agree

  10. I loved it !!! Excellent match soooo entertaining by the best two players in the world just amazing tennis, they really played their best out there :) ! Im over the moon Rafa won :P !!! Im more happier than he is hehe ! Vamos Rafa x*x

  11. I thought that the epic 4-set match between Pete and Andre was the greatest match I have watched. This topped it. I am a huge Federer supporter and even I had counted him out after the 2nd set. But wow what a come back. It had to shake the confidence of Nadal after the first rain delay when Federer made his comeback. I guess he regained it during that 5th set break. I used to say that Nadal is a one service wonder, I guess I will enjoy my "crow" now. This guy is the real deal. I just wish people were not so quick to write off Roger, he isn't that old, and surely has a couple more slams in him. In all fairness, Nadal has yet to win a US Open or an Aussie Open. The rivalry still has a way to go, with Federer still holding a slight advantage, but watch out. Nadal is starting to understand other surfaces. Novak Djokovic, sorry brother, you don't have a chance. Your going to be like Andy Roddick. I one hit wonder. I do feel bad for Andy, think about how many he could have had if not for Federer, some time it sucks to play in an era when 1 person dominates, i.e. Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, etc... At least the US Open should be fun to watch. I imagine both players will be amped up.

  12. Yeah he did. I understand. I also think Federer's going to raise his level during the hard court season, but he's not going to win the US Open.

  13. I have watched most of the major tournaments since the 1960s, and for sheer sustained quality of play this was the finest tennis match I have ever seen. No two players in history have ever hit the ball so hard and run so far as these two. If not for Nadal, we would be proclaiming Federer the best ever. Not now, however, unless he can solve the problem of Nadal's spin and speed.

Most players would have wilted under a two-set deficit against Nadal, but Federer showed his courage and focus by saving numerous game and match points. Similarly, most players would have faltered in the fifth set when Nadal had to continually serve to hold, after coming close to breaking Federer.

Both players should be congratulated for their mental toughness along with their amazing competence.

Although Nadal clearly is the best player in the world right now, don't count Federer out just yet. Either could have won the match today, and together they provided the best exhibition of tennis in my lifetime.
