Question:

Was the 1977 UFO attack on Colares, Brazil, mass hysteria?

The physicians who treated the injuries and performed the autopsies believed it was real.

The Brazilian military commanders who attempted to chase the objects and investigated the matter endlessly believed they were real.

It reads like a sci-fi thriller.

Was it weather balloons, Venus, or just mass hysteria carried to an official military organization?

  1. I hadn't heard of this before, so thanks for the links. I read what I can. It's an intriguing story and it sounds like to me like something must have happened there. But what?  A few things  makes me doubt, like the supposed puncture wounds that people received from these mystery lights. The locals called them "vampire lights". That's just a bit hokey for me. How did the doctor know that the people who came to him in hysteria didn't have those blemishes, cuts or burn marks before the whole event happened?  Can we trust the doctor? I'm admittedly ignorant of the local religious customs there, but were any drug-aided rituals going on at the time? Were people actually doing these things to themselves?

To be clear, I'm not dismissing this with a wave of the magic doubt wand. I think it's likely that something was happening, but I'm skeptical that it was galactic space vampires. Given the amount of verifiable info there is on this event, right now I'm under the opinion that it was some man-made or natural (non-alien) event, or a combination of both. But I would sure like to know more about it.

  2. Your links aren't coming out blue for me. Is is my comp. or is it happening to everyone? I do see it now blue above my answer. Even when I type them in though..they don't go through ..Why is that?

I'm sure that only the eye witnesses can answer your question anyway...and the govt. never believes them..or says they don't. Don't those reactions/symptoms sound like radiation burns? But, that doesn't account for the puncture wounds.

Is there anyway we can let Yahoo know that the links aren't printing blue?  Will you let them know..if you know how? Thanks!

  3. Is that the one were people were being attacked by mysterious lights??.
