I watched the movie for the 2nd time in ages and afterward I went to the site now I need to know if that really happened because I can understand if they just did the film to scare people but what about the stuff on the website, would people really go through the trouble of putting all that up just to scare people? If it wasn't real then they would have to have set all of that stuff in the photos up, make a fake journal, everything. I'm really curious about that. Any ideas? And if it is fake I want proof not opinion please if you can

  1. Yes, actually, it was.

  2. It's fake. My dad told me that the directors of the movie left the people in the woods and only told them they were in a movie and sometimes what to do and say. Like when that guy threw the map away, they told him to do that and what to say and stuff. And in the end... the directors people totally faked that because you can look up Bliar Witch Project on imdb and find out about them. Thats all the proof I have. (using my mom's email.....)

  3. It was a college film project and it is certainly not real.

I am from that part of Maryland originally, and have camped in those woods hundreds of times... There is nothing even remotely odd going on there.

  4. No.

  5. Love the movie!

The events depicted in the film are certainly untrue. According to snopes.com, the legend of the Blair Witch is not a true legend--it is not rooted in American folklore. Rather, the writers/producers of the film made up the tale to support the film's plot.

As far as going through all that trouble to present such a "convincing" website. . .

. . . people would DEFINITELY do that! Many film-related websites are intricately created, mostly to supplement the viewing experience. Another great movie website is the one that accompanies the film "Donnie Darko."

For future reference, www.snopes.com is an excellent source to check with regard to the truth or falsity of an urban legend.

  6. It was based on making money.
