Question:

Was the Cueto try a try?? (RWCF 2007)?

I've seen that the video ref rule is that the video ref can only be used to see if the ball has been grounded. Therefore if the touch judge didn't flag, then the try was a try. Would it have made a difference to the match?

  1. NO!!!  For the last time, it was not a try.  I don't know how many people have asked this d**n question on here but his foot touched the line before he grounded the ball.  No Try.  It's that simple.  And 7 points more to England means they still would have lost.

  2. Is Elvis still alive?  Are puppies ugly beasts? Will a Republican win the next elections in the US? ... and your question too! All reasonable questions to ask but there is only one right answer  NO.

  3. Grow up wanker England were lucky to make it to  the final it was not a try you sore loser The springboks beat the english girls three times this year twice in the world cup 36-0 in one game and we beat them at  twickenham and you complaining about 1  try how pathetic

  4. After you have listened to the answer NO NO NO NO NO NO, why dont you get out of your pram and pick your toys up.

    ENGLAND LOST END OF STORY.

  5. Why the debate, it was clearly not a try. There was not a single person (English or South African) in the pub where I watched the game, who actually thought it was a score once they had seen the replay.

It was a dull match and even it had been a try thje Boks would still have won as England never looked like doing anything after that - sorry to say.

  6. it was out. take a look

  7. Of course it was a try.

Should have awarded it - would have sparked some life into the game and made the Bokke actually put their brilliant back line in to gear and fight back by crafting a try or two of their own.

TMOs are bloody nonsense - slowing down and spoiling the game.

All International refs should have to pass a fitness test before they get on the paddock and be able to sub in and out with the touch judges  - going up stairs to the TMO is for old, slow, blind, fat men.

  8. Awe shame You sore LOOSER!!!! My side won - take it like a MAN!!!  I agree with Max and the rest of the guys here!!

    Q-ball: Proud SA rugby fan!!!!

  9. get over it, go see someone, south africa won

  10. You have "seen" incorrectly. If you read in the Rugby Union laws, Law 6 deals with what a referee can do. Law 6.7(e) clearly states that the TMO can be used to answer questions regarding the touchline.

You can read it online at this website:

    7 REFEREE CONSULTING WITH OTHERS

    a) The referee may consult with touch judges in regard to matters relating to their duties, the law relating to foul play, or timekeeping.

    b) A match organiser may appoint an official who uses technological devices. If the referee is unsure when making a decision in in-goal involving a try being scored or a touch down, that official may be consulted.

    c) The official may be consulted if the referee is unsure when making a decision in in-goal with regard to the scoring of a try or a touch down when foul play in in-goal may have been involved.

    d) The official may be consulted in relation to the success or otherwise of kicks at goal.

    e) The official may be consulted if the referee or touch judge is unsure if a player was or was not in touch when attempting to ground the ball to score a try.

    f) The official may be consulted if the referee or touch judges are unsure when making decision relating to touch-in-goal and the ball being made dead if a score may have occurred.

    g) A match organiser may appoint a timekeeper who will signify the end of each half.

    h) The referee must not consult with any other persons.

  11. South Africa were the best team of the tournament and deserved to win not england cause they are rubbish in the group stages and didnt deserve it!!!!!!!

it was NOT a try. His foot was so far out it was in the stands!!!

    Have a nice day

  12. The ref's question to the video referee was ' Is there any reason why I cannot award the try'

The video ref then checked playback on the video from all angles.

It was he who had judged that Cueto's foot was in touch and therefor disallowed the try.

  13. It was not a try.

    His foot was in touch.

What ever "rule" you read about TMO's is wrong.

They can let the ref know if a try should be awarded or not.

More importantly the ref said it wasn't a try.

    Therefore it wasn't a try.

    End of story.
