  2. There is a Christian saint called Saint Bartholomew. Along with Saint Thaddeus he is the parton Saint of the Coptic Church and he was born in  Armenia.

    The island was named St Bartholmeoy by Christopher Columbus,prehaps in honor of his brother who held the name Bartholmeoy.

    St Bartholomew is patron saint of bookbinders,shoe makers and cheese makers along with a wide variety of other crafts
