Was the Tamsyn Lewis interview the worst you have ever seen?

After Tamsyn's semi final where she came last she was crying and very upset. Enter the ignorant channel 7 commentator sticking a microphone in her face and asking her about her drug comments. He showed absolutely no compassion and empathy. Just wanted to ask his "hard hitting" questions. What an a$$hole!!!! I really felt for her.

  1. i honestly think it must be a nightmare to be interviewed like they do emidiatley after you have just seriously compeeted in the olympics  , weather you come first or last you emotions are going to be running wild and you wont entirly be yourself

i am completley against these types of interviews , i dont think its fair just sticking the mike infront of someone at that time , and i honestly think the questions they ask are disgusting and just STABS at a time which couldent be any worse

i also honestly think thats why a lot of the people come across as ignorent at these interviews because the questions and timing they ask them at is an absolute FARSE and they know it!!!!!

  2. She didn't have to say her 'hard hitting accusations' at the beginning of the week - she is just a big mouth.

  3. It was truly the most appalling piece of "journalism" I've ever seen. I've issued off a fiery email to Channel 7 expressing my disgust at Pat Welsh and his complete lack of discretion. Like any viewer wants to hear the perspective of a crying, distraught athlete! My hat goes off to Tamsyn Lewis for answering his bull***t questions, struggling to hang onto the last of her dignity.  Badly, badly done, Pat Welsh and Channel 7. Australian journalism has sunk to a brand new low.

  4. They should have given her some time to compose herself then come back to the interview later. Show a little more compassion seven.

  5. she didn't have to stop and talk, did she? any media exposure is better than none

  6. Far better athletes then her have been disappointed in these olympics and handled themselves with grace after woods.  I am so over her and her whinging!

  7. She is a professional athlete. Is always happy to seek out media on her terms and shoot off at the mouth. She knew what she was doing during that interview. Looking for sympathy.

  8. Yes Darren she does have to stop and talk. They get fined if they don't just like the tennis. I agree he should have asked 1-2 questions then let her go.

  9. Well the channel 7 reporter was awfull but that is nothing new! As for Tamsyn she should have handled herself better in the presence of the media.  It kinda came across as her being a poor loser.

  10. Agreed. I literally could not believe what I was seeing when the interview dragged on and on and on. Channel 7 could have handled it so much better, given her five minutes to compose herself, asked 1-2 questions maybe and let her go, cut to an ad break and then come back to her (God knows we have had enough ad breaks this Olympics).

Unfortunately this just adds to another long list of terrible coverage from Channel 7 this Olympics. Advertisements absolutely ridiculously over used, focus and due credit not even given to athletes who win medals such as Andrew Lauterstein in the swim of his life to take bronze in the butterfly. This thrown in with absolutely horrendous coverage such as no mention of the sailing gold medal on television, I only found out by logging on to the internet. And to top it off, you get to see 2 minutes of an event, then it cuts to an ad, then you go to another event for 2 minutes, back to the original event, missing half the games or only providing highlights. An absolute disgrace.

Goes down as one of, if not the worst interviews I have ever had the misfortune to see an athlete subjected to.

Channel 7, you are an absolute disgrace, and we can only pray that when London rolls around, another channel has the sense to usurp your ownership of the event.

  11. Yes clearly he should be executed, as should the channel 7 director responsible for this rubbish coverage. China is famous for executing people anyway.

  12. I completely agree with you!! My sister & I watched in absolute embarassment for the poor girl. The commentator obviously was adamant in getting through his stupid questions he didn't stop to actually realise she didn't give a stuff what he was talking about, she needed a moment on her own but he just wanted to get the story.

I think Channel 7 should apologise on behalf of such an idiot. There's been a few shockers so far in this Olympic coverage but this one took the cake.

  13. I totally agree with JayC, it was tactless and nasty.

  14. Its a shame that Channel 7 couldn't be more professional about it at all.

  15. It was awful... I mean fair enough you have to ask questions, but I didn't gleam anything more from that harassing journalist than could have come from 'Not the best race Tamsyn, but don't worry about it ect.'

A little bit of compassion could have gone a long way...

And i'm pretty sure they have to stop and talk because of sponsors and the like... who the h**l would stop and talk in that state if they didn't have to? I think exposure was the last thing on her mind!

  16. As an Aussie who loves sport sport and more sport I was totally embarrassed and felt like cringeing as the reporter continued to fire questions at an obviously broken and humiliated athlete. Since when has it been the Aussie media policy of 'kicking a person when they're down'. Just tell me......what's been gained from that? I'm ashamed to be an Aussie if that's what defines good reporting! Channel 7....you suck

  17. Yes, it was the worst. What an idiot. Get him to apologise or sack him

  18. i agree with jay c. she was obviously disappointed after all the prep she put in. what heartless human being would put ratings in-front of the emotions of a fellow human being. the interviews are pointless any way. most of the athletes are still catching their breath and you cant get a decent sentence out of them anyway. leave them alone
