  1. If they had not risen they would have been slaughtered anyway

The real blame lies with the Germans ( for the initial siege) and then with the Soviet command who held back from attacking in order to let the n***s kill the Jews and the Jews kill the n***s.We failed to give the back up which we promised due to difficulties with both motivation and getting stuff to them.I have no idea what the Americans could have done, but they did nowt.

No one except the Jewish people came out of it with any respect earned.

The Germans were incredibly savage and used the Dirlewanger Brigade and Kaminsky Brigade to terrorise the civilian population.Almost 1/4 million civilians died in the fighting

So I guess it was die, or kill your enemy and maybe die. Either way it was a fantastic achievement to hold back a well equipped and trained military force with minimal equipment and no heavy weapons

  2. yes. and long overdue.

  3. Those in the uprising thought so. The Poles were left in the lurch because the Russians suddenly stopped outside Warsaw and let them get slaughtered. It was Uncle Joe's plan to let the Germans wipe out any resistance so the Russians could have a walk over.

  4. Absolutely

  5. For 63 days the Warsaw Poles stood alone during the rising. In those 63 days they accounted for more German casualties per day than across the entire Western front. I am not sure what you mean by necessary but in respect of national pride then yes. They fought for a freedom they believed in and realistically was not granted until 1989. Even though the allies effectively gave up on them they never gave up on themselves.

  6. I do believe the Jews thought so, they had nothing to lose, and I have to give them credit they did give the Germans a bloody nose for awhile.

  7. The answer that reported that the “Polish Government in exile” ordered the uprising was correct, but not for the reasons stated.

By the time that the action was ordered there was severe mistrust between the Poles in exile and the Stalin (Kytan Forest!!!).

The uprising was attempt to present a fait-a-comply to the Russian Authorities, the "Home Polish Army" would have secured the city, flown in the Government in Exile and their presence would have prevented the Russians annexing Poland!

Unfortunately the Russian assault ran out of steam at the Warsaw and the Germans turned around and crushed the opposition (this played into Stalin's hands as those that might oppose him in future were killed

  8. Very much so.  The Warsaw Uprising of 1944 was ordered by the Polish Government in exile here in London. The reason for the orders going out to start the uprising was because the Red Army had stopped outside the city of Warsaw and was not advancing.  Meanwhile the Polish Government in exile saw a window of opportunity and took a chance that it could gain control of the city.

The plan was for the leaders of the Polish Government in exhile to be flown to Warsaw by the RAF.  The RAF were supposed to be dropping supplies to the Free Polish Army united inside Warsaw.  But the RAF said they could not do much because the Russians would not allow their planes to land inside Russian controlled terrory for refueling etc.

The Polish people blame the Allies for what happened.  I agree with them the British paid only lip service to their treaty with Poland in that anyone who attacked Poland would immediately be attacked by us the Brits.  It never happened like that.

It's a bloody disgrace what happened.
