  2. Metaphorically speaking, yes, because both Bill Clinton and George Bush won second terms - - -

  3. After a national uproar, Sara Palin tanked the bridge, which she supported, but she kept the pork barrel money and spent it on other things. The road on that tiny island that would have connected to the bridge is still being paved since the feds gave them the money in advance. Ridiculous. Sara Palin is a big spending hypocrite.

  4. no -  sarah put the kabosh to it when she realized the govt wouldn't fund the entire thing..  i guess she used the money they had advanced her for it on other 'projects'

AK gets like $800 per person from govt earmarks while other states get $20 or $30 per person..  seems a bit skewed to me.

no wonder her constituents love her, she can afford to give them back money, because it's supplemented by the rest of the country!

  5. No,

In an interview with NEWSWEEK, Palin said it's time for Alaska to "grow up" and end its reliance on pork-barrel spending. Shortly after taking office, Palin canceled funding for the "Bridge to Nowhere," a $330 million project that Stevens helped champion in Congress. The bridge, which would have linked the town of Ketchikan to an island airport, had come to symbolize Alaska's dependence on federal handouts. Rather than relying on such largesse, says Palin, she wants to prove Alaska can pay its own way, developing its huge energy wealth in ways that are "politically and environmentally clean."

Now THAT'S change (and action) you can believe in!

  6. That is her point.  She did not back having it built because it went to nowhere.

  7. Theye built something like that in Alaksa I heard

  8. No.

  9. Guess who canceled.

    Governor Sarah Palin

  10. They couldn't find where it went.

  11. No, because Palin backed out for some reason. Hypocrite she is, she probably got a better offer somewhere else.

  12. No, they decided there were things that were more important that needed to have the money used for rather than spend all of that money to provide 50 people with a bridge when they had done without for many years already.

  13. No but Sarah kept the mullah

  14. Partially. The rest of the 230 million is still in the state of Alaska. They are not the only state though, that gets more money from the government every year than the taxes they put in.

  15. Yes, they are in Detroit and they head to Canada

  16. NO ... and Gov. Sarah Palin is the reason why.   She told the feds No
