Was the currency exchange guy trying to rip me off???

Question

I went to a currency exchange, and I asked how much it would cost me to get 100 Euro's. (the Euro was worth $1.55/dollar then)

The guy told me it would be $200 US dollars. Was he trying to rip me off???

Yes it appears that this was very expensive.

Yikes. Even with a service charge, that is too high. Travelex currently sells Euros for about US$1.65, so 100 Euros would be $165 plus the $5.50 service fee, or $170.50. I don't understand why it would be $200.
