Question:

Was the drink spiked?

When I was very young my mother went out for a drink with her friends. Me and my brother went to bed early so we were asleep when she got back, but when she got back she woke everyone up by yelling a lot and swearing.

My dad got here into bed and moved me into his because of her screaming. Later on he told me that her drink was spiked. I've only really found out what that means recently and I was wondering these things:

Is her yelling a normal case of someone having their drink spiked?

Had she 'officially' taken drugs that night? Would you class it as taking drugs?

I've never really gotton over it. It was the scariest thing in my life. Should I try to?

-Thanks :)

  1. yeah if she got drunk she would lose her inhibitions and say things she wouldnt normally say, or do things she wouldnt normally do

well, alcohol is a drug teachnically, but its not really serious that she drank as long as she didnt hurt you or anything like that.

i think you should try to let it go. she never hurt you...its not like she does this regularly (plus if her drink was spiked then of course she wasnt even intending to be drunk)

  2. my drinks were spicked good thing to if not id be pissed.

  3. Well, you should try to get over it. In the grand scheme of things, that's not a big deal. If this is the most scary thing to happen in your life, then you are having a pretty good life. Not that that was ok, but when I was growing up this was an at-least-once-a-day occurrence in my house (with or without drugs; bipolar disorder is funny like that). I just got use to it, unfortunately.

If this really bothers you though, the best way would be to talk to your mom about it. If this was a few years ago, maybe now that you're older she'll tell you more about the incident. Parents tend to only tell their kids what they think they can understand. If you were really little, they probably knew you wouldn't understand as much. Make sense?

And if she didn't know the drink was spiked, then I would not say she was intentionally "taking drugs." Therefore, you can't really blame her for it too much. And no one would legally blame her either, if that is your concern. If someone drugs you without your consent, then that is just as much a violation against you as someone mugging you. The fact that someone did that to your mom would bother me far more than how she reacted to the substance. I would try to talk to her about that as well.

Good luck. You're going to be fine. :)
