Yep more of the SBW hype, do you think all the stress was worth it??

They said it wasnt about the money?? Makes you wonder what the point of chasing him was... Don't you reckon?...

Tell me what should have happened and what the point was???

  1. The payout was justified, he may have got off lightly. This was compensation to the Dogs for loss of prospective sponsors who may have been attracted to the club because of SBW, also other players who may have come to the club because of him.

On the other hand how would SBW have felt over the past few years to see so many of his team mates leave : Anasta, O'Meley, Mason, Thurston, Miles. As a player, I would have been teed off to see so many name players go.

Another point is who advised him to take a five year contract, the grapevine implies that he was advised to push for that long due to his injuries.

  2. i think the dogs didnt deserve the payout....well look at all the $$$ sbw bought to the club they should have offered him alot more then they did....its true wat sbw said they treat these players like cattle i mean really the NRL is going down big time david gallop needs to take a long hard look at the NRL and change alot of things....i say GO SBW u did wat u had to to get wat u deserve.....

  3. From what I have read I don't think the payout was enough. The amount of money the dogs will lose on endorsement due to his walkout will be much higher over the next 4 years than that figure.

Mainly, I feel sorry for the bulldogs players who had to go to other clubs so they could retain SBW. They should get 1st pick at nwe recruits or something like that.

I am glad it is over though. The less negative press in the paper on rugby league the better.

In regards to them letting him go come next year, that's the 1st I have heard of it.

  4. Did you see the interview with Mundine, who had to go to three banks to raise the cash, he was surprised at the low pay-out, he expected to have to pay more. The next bit was good too, "Sonnys my brother, I'd take a bullet for my brother." Someone may get a bullet if they don't pay 'The Man' back.

  5. Well the Bulldogs wanted him to stay and he did have a contract. If they could have this over again the Bulldogs would want SBW to return to them on the contract that was in place.

However, when he snubbed them they wanted something for their contract and rightly so.

Personally I feel that SBW got off lightly with the $750,000.00 and he'll be grinning now. The Bulldogs would probably say well we are better off by $750k and not have the hassles that he brought to the club.

He should be banned by the NRL from playing in the competition again for bringing the sport into disrepute.

He's so injury prone that dont be surprised if he is released after a yr or 2.

That's the first I have heard of that. Think of it this way, whenever they had SBW playing for them, they played much better. As well as that the amount that they were paying him was reasonable for them as a club. I cant see any reason why they would want to get rid of him.

The only thing I can think of was the drama that seemed to follow him distracted the club and players, but there are other players who did that as well.

  6. just give him a public spanking then forget about it,

theres nothing anyone can do to bring him back now so just stop giving him attention

  7. As far as a transfer fee goes..I think $750K is a record amount payed for a Rugby league player(old record was some Englishman around $550K.

But he should still be punished.
