  1. yeh if he hadnt then gomez would have hit the floor for sure, he was up against the edge and wasnt able to dodge any of the punches he was just taking them and taking them... it was only gonna end one way!

  2. i think he could've let it go a bit longer to see how Gomez coped with the flurry of punches by Khan.

btw, its Amir Khan, not Imran Khan. Imran Khan is a famous cricketer that has retired now.

  3. good question

at the time, i thought he stopped it too early and that Gomez still had some fight in him.

However, the ref is the man on the spot and Gomez was taking some serious shots, even though he was putting up a great fight (i wanted Gomez to win).

barry Mcguigan hit the nail on the head when he said later that Gomez would not have given up untill he was beaten to the floor. The ref could see that and i believe that as brave as Gomez was and even though he wasn't completely destroyed, the ref made the right decision to save him from any further harm.

    cheers buddy

  4. What a cracking little fight.Gomez gave him plenty to think about eh?Haven't enjoyed a fight so much for ages.

Should it have been stopped?Personally I'd have liked him to have another round at least.Ref by then knew Khan had the measure of him and with youth on his side and Gomez slowing the fight was in the bag. There would have been less chance of him catching Khan out so when that battering came it was his opportunity to save the fighter from unnecessary harm.Still good on Gomez.

  5. no he was not right to stop the figh... because gormez was in the state to carry on fightin...a fight should only be stopped if the person is propa getting hurt or cannot defend him self.. and gormez had a really good guard therefore the refereee shouldnt f stopped thisss...... plz vote for best answerrr thnx

  6. no i dont think he was he was taking them punches in every round plus i think he only got hit by 1 good one from the 10 plus thrown most were missing and that didnt rock him much. the ref was getting scared that khan could lose the fight. i dont know about fighting nate campbell, naiomi  campbell would knock kahn out

  7. WERE YOU THE REF, NO.

    SO YES, HE WAS RIGHT.

  8. its amir khan not imran khan

  9. did the khan fight air in america?i know it wansnt on hbo or showtime

  10. I think he was right because Gomez was badly hurt and the referee knew it. I wanted the fight to go on longer too because it was a very good one, but the referee has to think about the boxers safety first.

  11. yes i think the ref made the correct decision, but i don't think gomez was finished at that point in the fight, it was possible he could have caught kahn and turned the fight around, but in my opinion it wasn't worth the risk, plus there was a lot of money riding on kahn! i for one wont be backing imran if he gets in the ring with a top Mexican or yank, i think he has a suspect chin, which cant be worked on.

  12. God, yes he was so right.

  13. Gomez had terrific guts and fought with great skill and determination. However, I believe he was surviving on instrinct only and the referee had to stop the fight to avoid him being hurt very badly when he should be looking forward to a well earned retirement.

  14. yeah I think so, Gomez took alot of big blows to the head and had a nasty cut to the eye. The ref was right to stop the fight, nobody wants to see any boxer beat half to death.

  15. Yes, he was right. Gomez was taking punches from a bigger and stronger fighter, who would probably have blown up another 6-7 pounds since the weigh in and Gomez was fighting way above his natural weight anyhow. Taking punches like that lead to people suffering brain damage and/or dying. Gomez was courageous as he always is, but as has been mentioned and as Barry McGuigan mentioned, Gomez would've kept on fighting until he was dead as is his nature. If you watch the fight again, the referee checked Gomez a couple of times through the fight to see if he was OK, it was inevitable that he would stop it at the third time of checking him, he had a bad cut and was walking on to punches in order to get on the inside. Nobody wants to see anybody get seriously hurt, he should never have been in the ring with Khan to start with as he's had a long career and taken many big shots and fought many wars against smaller men, but the perfomance he gave proves how far away Khan is from being a world champion.

  16. i thought that the ref stopped the fight prematurely as khan was hits gomez gloves when the stoppage came KHANS TOO OVER RATED

  17. Gomez would slaughter Imran Khan, he was a Cricket player! sorry, lol

But, yes the ref was right to stop the fight, Amir Khan had Gomez beaten. Gomez had nothing left really, he was tired and battered, he no longer had that punchers chance he had earlier in the fight.

Also, the ref knows Gomez had taken a bit of a pounding throught his career, he was also badly batterd in his previous fight.

Gomez would have simply carried on until badly hurt, and at that stage of the fight he had no more chance of winning, so it would have been pointless to let him continue.

The fight raises even more questions about Khan's chin though..yet again he was floored by a fighter who was actually a blown up Super Featherweight.

  18. yeh as he will take them all day will get up as its all he khows.

    well done gomez.

kahn is a good boxer and only a still a kid not redy 4 a title fight yet may be 5 more fights. dont like the way they go about it how its all on tv about kahn his big nite as itv  is shlt and fcukin duke MCc chatts ****. mitchell with be what we want to see. warann is not going to let him lose so makes no odds AS ITS ALWAY GOING TO GET STOPED AT SOME POINT.

why sould he not of been in the ring with kahn? droped him and that body shot. or should he be in with manny pac??

  19. no because i would of enjoyed him getting more beaten up lol

  20. i did'nt see the fight as was out on p1ss but read report in sun this morning and it sounded mostly like khan was in control from the 2nd rd and sat him down and hurt him a few times before the ref stepped in.
