Was the trade for Manny Ramirez to the Dodgers a good one for the Red Sox?

I know they had problems with him and his antics (However funny and stupid they were) and they got Jason Bay but I don't know if they are still as big a threat in the east as the were with him. Him being traded is a big weight lifted of the teams in the American League. I'm a Yankee fan and I feel bad for all the Yankee coaches that went to L.A with Joe Torre because now they have to handle his acts and I know a great mamager like Joe torre isnt gonna put up with him.

it was a horrible deal. the red sox gave up manny for a guy in pittsburgh that we are not so sure can play under the bright lights in boston. playing in boston is totally different than playing at the pnc park. manny protects david ortiz and is a top 5 player in the league. jason bay is not a hitter u fear playign against. manny is a guy that can scare a pitcher to death. then the dodgers really didnt have to give up much for him. dodgers got a steal for manny. look  i know manny aint no choir boy but he just mans up and gets it done in the postseason. would u have manny or arod in the postseason if u had to win the world series right now???? manny by a landslide. w/out manny david ortiz i guaranttee u will get pitched aorund and not ge that many pitches to hit. th ered sox simply chose to be mediocre now

The Red Sox got a player who's gonna save them a whole lot of money (Jason Bay's slated to get $7M this year) and they also got a player who's 7 years younger with Bay being 29 years old.  Me being a dodger fan, I'm quite pleased to have his much needed bat in the lineup.  And after the season's up, we have the bankroll to be able to re-sign him granted the possible issues aren't unbearable (ie: Jeff Kent and Barry Bonds in SF)

We're a bigger threat than before now that we have our chemistry and work ethic back. Trust me, Manny was bring our team down. Plus, what makes you think a guy who wants to get outta here ASAP would want to EXTEND the season into late October? He'd sabotage us so he could leave sooner, trust me, he'd do that.

I think it wasnt so much how great of a player Jason Bay is that defines this deal. The key to this deal is that he was poisoning our clubhouse and didnt want to be there anymore. I understand we may not be as great of a threat but from 1-7 we still have a dangerous lineup that can produce. It will all work out in the end, no worries.
