Was the traffic warden wrong?

I went out for breakfast last weekend, parked legally and went to the pay and display. it was 90 pence for 30 mins.I only had pound coins and needless to say, no change given. No big deal! So, we eat a tasty full English, step outside 3 mins late to find a ticket. 2 mins before the ticket expired, the warden had already logged it in. why? So, was it the most expensive breakfast ever? Or was we robbed?

  1. Probably robbed.

While I can't say I know much about the parking in the UK, I can say I've been through a couple battles local courts on many things.

If you think you can fight it, the citation should have information on how you can fight it.

How to decide whether or not to fight it is a matter of determining whether the cost of lost time, possibly lost money, and effort of fighting it are worth the time and effort.

Some civil servants are good at what they do, some are bad. Every home in a two block radius recieved citations from code enforcement. Mine was for brush in the alley. A chainsaw, an angry afternoon, and the brush was at the curb for pickup. Guess what I just got another citation for from Code Enforcement?

I'm going to try to get someone fired. And yes, it's the same Code Enforcement inspector.

Is it worth it to fight? I don't know. Did you get passively mugged? Probably. What are your options? Without seeing the ticket to read it I don't know.

Whatever happens, whatever you choose, good luck.

    JT
