  1. Absolutely!

  2. Have you tried contacting Staffordshire Social Services?  They may be able to help you.  If not, the Salvation Army are very good at tracing relatives in this scenario.  I used to live in Rugeley, and I think I remember that there's a branch locally there. But there is the caveat; if you are looking for relatives, bear in mind that their lives have changed, so whether you are a child looking for a parent or siblings, or a parent looking for a child, the person sought will be advised that you are looking for them and ~they~ will be given the choice of whether or not they want to meet you.  Life was very different then, and if you are the child seeking a mother, she may have spent years trying to forget that she had to give you up for adoption, and then gone on to live life as a mother with a husband and family who are unaware of the fact that she had to give up another child and may be horrified by what they may see as her deception in hiding this from them.  The same if you are looking for a child you gave up some time ago, or even if you are a sibling looking for a long-lost relative.  You may need to find them; be prepared for heartbreak if they don't want to be found.

    Best of luck.
