  2. Yes. I live near Chicago and this was a big collision. It did over 1 million dollars in damage. It happened on Friday the 30th.

To the poster that said they were going from 10-15 mph, it was said on the news this morning that 1of them was going from at least 20-40 mph. No one died. There were 5 people in the cabin when there are only supposed to be 2, all 5 were severely injured.

here is a link about it http://www.reuters.com/article/bondsNews...

  3. An Amtrak train hit the rear of a freight train. The Engineer and brakeman of the Amtrak train were the most seriously injured, the locomotive they were in landed on top of the rear car of the freight train.

    14 passengers were injured.

The train was going slow, only 10-15 MPH.

  4. You can bet the F.R.A.  will have some kind of new rule in the GCOR  or a new procedure people will have to follow - as a result.

Its always like that when something bad happens.

I don't know what caused it but I am sorry to hear about it.

The word is the Amtrack train collided with the rear of a stopped freight.  The engine climbed on top of an empty container car.  Somebody erred.

  5. well according to the news report I read nobody was killed
