  1. It's always been there, most people just didn't notice because it used to be less than it is now. They increased it because they decreased the pay that they want to give the drivers. Most places used to start at minimum wage and would give the driver a certain percentage of the delivery charge and let them keep their tips. Now places want to pay the same wages that servers make and have the tips they recieve add up to minimum wage. The delivery fee was increased to help them get out of paying minimum wage and also to make sure the company still gets their cut. The company pretty much wants to make more money off of everyone.


  2. Fancy restaurants have delivery charges.   Now the chains most likely have to cover gas, the 3 buck tip has to be reported to the IRS.
