Was there ever a real life "Italian Job" high-scale crime heist in Italy?

not the movie (I know that is fiction) but similar to the scale of the movie, where it was well planned, a big heist, eluded police.

Lot of art has been stolen from Italy for example (and few works ended in the Getty museum, LA).
