I've used the tube lots of times during visits to London and I've never seen anyone drinking alcohol. Did Boris fing a solution for a problem that didn't exist?

  1. So the guy above saw vomit on the tube once a year for three and a half years??!! SHOCK! HORROR!! This is the biggest city in Europe, you are going to see the occasional unpleasant thing, so once a year isn't too bad at all! People vomit for all sorts of reasons, not just because they are drunk!GET OVER IT! I'll bet you saw homeless people sleeping on the street every day....isn't that a LOT worse?

You might very occasionally see the odd drunk at the weekend, but  this is simply Boris trying to make himself look busy in the first few weeks of his rule. Its pointless...the problem doesn't really exist at all. Its an easy thing to do, and it gets headlines, which is what he's after of course

  2. No

He wanted to look like he helped something change

    Helped the cleaners

  3. The first two contibutors have shot themselves in the foot, these are measures brought in by Mayor Johnson, a Tory. (BBC News 24)

If you look at the footage from lastnight, yes there was a problem because us Brits can't handle booze, we're like a bunch of kids!

The people of London put Boris in charge, not the government, it's called an election, it's where members of the public are invited to vote for the person they would like to represent their interests, they chose Boris Johnson to do that, mainly as a protest vote against Labour. In doing so, many people didn't realise that they were making him the most powerfull Tory in the UK.

It looks like you've a bullet hole in both feet now!

  4. I have seen vomit on carriages at least three times in the 3.5 years I was commuting into London. At least once occasion, the drunk vomited righ by the doorway in the carriage I was sitting in. Not only is revolting, the carriage stinks, ic completely unhygienic, nobody then understandably wants to sit in the carriage, and the entire train needs to be taken out of service for that one carriage to be cleaned.

I have seen drunks, mainly on a Friday and Saturday, become abusive to staff. They become a major irritant to commuters to the point where even I have waited for the next train just so that I can avoid the drunks. To make matters worse is that they are not only drunk, they are continuing to drink.

Boris, in my opinion, has done the right thing.

  5. I can't say I've ever noticed people drinking on public transport. Plenty of people who've been drinking and are loud and obnoxious, but not anyone actually drinking.

  6. Just another d**n example of the government's controlling nature.

  7. No not really. Some people would have a beer with their mates on a Saturday night while on their way across the city (for example, if I wanted to go out in Notting Hill it would take me over an hour on the tube to get there!) but this tended to be at the beginning of the night. It's just complete gesture politics. In his own words - if you take care of minor crimes then the major ones will decrease. Well, yes, maybe, but I don't think INVENTING NEW CRIMES is really the same thing.

  8. Yes, he found a solution for a "problem" that didn't exist. He was able to make a stand against "binge drinking" without having to do a lot, other than put up a lot of silly posters and warning stickers.

  9. I always thought labour was working class but they have made a mockary

maybe but who put a mayor in charge clever clogs

  10. On a Friday or Saturday night, you will see a few people with cans of lager sitting on the tube and having fun but not annoying anyone.  Boris has solved a problem that never existed in my opinion.
