Was there once a race horse called Runrig? If so when and what happened to him?

Yes there was a horse of that name. And I think it won either the Aintree Grand National or the Scottish National. But maybe my mind's playing tricks on me. There was a horse called Rubstick that I think won the national so maybe I'm confused. It's been a long day.

YES, THERE WAS ONCE A HORSE RUNNING IN ENGLAND CALLED RUNRIG(IRE).

HE WAS BORN ON THE 5TH MAY 1990 AT THE STACKALLAN STUD IN IRELAND AND SOLD AT THE GOFF'S SALE IN 1992 FOR 2000 GNS. HE WAS BY JALMOOD(USA) OUT OF BLUETHROAT.

HE HAD 24 STARTS BETWEEN 1992 AND 1995 OVER BOTH FLAT AND NATIONAL HUNT COURSES. OF THOSE 24 RACES HE WON JUST ONE, A LOWLY £2,425 HURDLE RACE AT SEDGEFIELD. HE MADE THE FRAME 9 OTHER TIMES WITH 5 SECONDS AND 4 THIRDS. HE WAS TRAINED BY LINDA PERRAT WHO ALSO RODE HIM A COUPLE OF TIMES, AND OWNED BY D.CALLAGHAN.

I WOULD IMAGINE HE IS PROBABLY STILL OWNED BY MR CALLAGHAN AS WHEN THEY TRIED TO SELL HIM AT THE DONCASTER SALES ON THE 1ST FEB. 1996 THERE WAS NO BID FOR HIM.

(I CAN BUT WONDER WHY YOU WOULD BE INTERESTED IN SUCH A HORSE - DID YOU HAVE A BET OR IS IT A SIMILE BETWEEN THE NAME AND WHAT SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING IN SOME RACES??)

If there was a racehorse by that name, he must have been from another country and not a US horse. I have never heard of him. It sounds like it could be a British or Irish name.
