Was this a good choice to make

Question

For the past summer i have been trying to make up my mind whether to go into the education field or medical field. I thought long and hard about it and i decided i want to go into the education field and become a high school math teacher. If i went into the medical field it would of been for Rn nursing, don't get me wrong nursing is a good job but it doesnt feel right for me. So did i make the right decision?

besides following your heart, being a personal choice, i know one thing for sure - if you are good at teaching & interacting you can make a lot of positive difference, bring about visible change in your students. it can be extremely rewarding, especially if you really want to do something.

so go for it & all the best in whatever you do ...

I was going to be an RN, but I changed my mind halfway through my schooling. I'm so glad I did! I love being a teacher.

If nursing doesn't feel right for you, then don't go into nursing. If teaching feels right for you, then go for it! It truly is a rewarding experience.

You have to do what you think is best; not get validation from the anonymous mob on the internet.  Do you think you made the best decision if you are questioning it now?

Sure you did! I was actually in a nursing program during high school and everyone expected me to become and R.N. but I am actually going into the education major. Being a nurse is very rewarding but it is also not for everyone. I loved being at the hospital and would love to work at one, but I always wanted to teach. Being a nurse is very demanding and can be very, very difficult. Most people are drawn to the field because of the pay and openings but that is not why you should choose a job.

Follow your heart! You can always change your mind down the road! Most people change their careers over their lives so it would be completly normal if you chose to do so. Just do what makes you happy! Good Luck!
