Was this a normal star burnout?

so last night, i saw this like, moving star. it didn't have a tail, it was just moving, at a rather steady pace. maybe five minutes later, there was this bright white ball of light, it just like, flashed and went away. was it the star burning out maybe?

Judging from your description, I'd say you saw an Iridium flare.  It's an artificial satellite that brightens suddenly when it reflects sunlight at just the right angle from your point of view.  They are often noticed traveling just as you describe until they suddenly brighten.
