Ok, my mom got pregnant with me when she was 19 in October. She had me in July, but her B-day is in November, so she was still 19. Was this considered Teenage pregnancy? I'm 16 now and she's 35. We're basically 20 years apart, but her B-day is really late. So was this a teenage pregnancy or not?

  1. Just wandering are you pregnant? bc 16 and 19 are a big gap in maturity. Technically Yes it was a teen Pregnancy but I think of Teen pregnancies as 13-17 Once you hit 18 and or have graduated you are an adult and you have a lot more responsibilities. It is a big eye opener being out of the house and on your own paying for your own place and all so i think Its ok to be pregnant at 19 as long as you can take care of yourself!

  2. Diffidult to answer. My immidate thought was yes, because she was nineteen while she was pregnant, and when you were born. She had a teenage pregnancy, but was only a teenage mother for a short time (matter fo months).

According to the encyclopedia of public health:

"In the United States, 900,000 adolescents (**fifteen-to nineteen-year-olds**) became pregnant in 1996. While this was 15% lower than in 1994, it is still higher than any other developed country. There are twice as many teenage pregnancies in the United States each year as there are in England, Wales, or Canada, and eight times as many as in Japan."

    From Wiki:

"Teenage pregnancy is defined in the United States as an underaged girl becoming pregnant with a baby. However, in the United Kingdom, there is a legal definition whereby a woman is considered to be a pregnant teenager if she falls pregnant before her 18th birthday. The term in everyday speech usually refers to women under the age threshold of legal adulthood, which varies across the world, who become pregnant."

Take from that what you will.

  3. To me thats considered a teen age pregnancy because she was nineTEEN. But lucky she wasn't thirtTEEN.

  4. i would have 2 say yea only b/c her age ended with teen.but at least she was'nt younger than that like 14 or sumthing.right now i'm 17 and i'm 5 months with a girl.when i have my baby i will still be 17 and i won't be 18 until 2 months after that.sum people consider teen pregnancy 2 b between 13-17.it's just all up 2 u and your opinion.

  5. I had my son when I was 19.. I don't concider it teenage pregnancy because when u turn 18, ur adult... once ur adult, ur able to make life choices and know what ur doing. 19's better than 15. h**l, I think I did a great job at the age I was wit my son. I didn't live wit my parents, made my own money and bought his stuff... ur mother was a woman.. no matter what anybody says.

  6. Was she married.  If she was married, then it was common back then.  If not then it would be a teen pregnancy.  I consider a teen pregnancy to be more of an unplanned even by unwed teens.  Not that you have to be married, I am 30 unmarried and having my first, but it's just "teen" ones in my eyes are living at home w/ mom and dad still and it's unplanned.  But also back then many states still had 18 as the legal drinking age.  Now we look at under 21 as a "teen" or child and sometimes even under 25.

  7. Yep

  8. SAME WITH ME. MY MOM HAD ME AT 19. BUT BY LAW AT AGE 18 YOUR AN ADULT. SO 19 YOU'VE ALREADY WENT A YEAR BEING AN ADULT. SO TECHNICALLY SHE WASNT A TEEN. SHE WAS A(N) ADULT.

  9. Why does it even matter? It wouldn't necessarily be considered a teen pregnancy unless she was like 13-16 ish, people see teen pregnancies from different age limits.

  10. Literally a teenager is anyone from 13 to 19 years old.  So yes that is technically a teenager who had a baby.  However, in my opinion the term "teen pregnancy" applies to a teenager who is still a minor; so only those from 13 to 17.

  11. She is not a teenager when she had you im in the uk and had my first daughter at 17 and 16 and under is classed a s a teenager although some people like to say up to 18 in a teenager

  12. Well, she was pregnant and had you while she was nineTEEN so yes, it was a teenage pregnancy.

  13. Yes, she was a teen mom.  But she was a legal adult at age 18.
