All-Pro defensive end Jared Allen, acquired by the Vikings in an April trade with the Chiefs, has his own welcome-to-the-rivalry ritual in mind for Rodgers.

“Playing Green Bay on Monday night to start the season – that’s everything you want,” Allen said. “Hopefully, I can put my helmet square in the back of his spine. I understand to be able to trash talk its fun lol but to say it hit some one in the spine is pretty messed up if you ask me. Is it because the Packers blew them out last season and knocked Peterson?

  1. I couldnt really say why he did it but in my opinion the vikes are gonna lose the opener and many more to come anyway unless they can find a QB.

  2. Trash talk is rarely in good fun. What Jared Allen is trying to do it to intimidate Aaron Rodgers and have him thinking about him instead of the game. I do not think that this will work with Rodgers, even though it normally works on inexperienced players. Rodgers seems to mature to play his silly little game. I don't think the Packers O-line will let him back there anyway.

  3. He just made a fool out of his self first of all you don't tell the world when you are going to do something illegal because every fan camera and player will be watching for this hit. What he had better watch out for is one of the other players cashing a check that his ignorant mouth wrote. Not a fan of either team but I sure respect the rookie kid a lot !!!

  4. yeah that was utterly tacky of him to say. The league should not "punish" players that trash talk, but when it comes to things like this.. i mean should that not be taken as a threat?  Oh well the NFL only makes an issue of the small things, like dress code and hair! (rolling eyes)

  5. they try to talk tough because they wear purple jersey's and there fans are so proud to be in purple they parade in the streets while they hold each others hands and blow horns

  6. Not right of him to say; because he gives the impression he wants to go out and deliberately injure a player. The NFL front office usually frowns on stuff like that.

A lot of this does go on; but Allen should have kept it to himself. Now the league will be watching him VERY closely in that game; and he can expect a fine for any big hit he makes. Not a smart move.

  7. That is why it is a rivalry because they hate each other and want to hurt someone

  8. That's Football.... Its not made for the soft or weak hearted.

you go out there and destroy your opponent

    Hate fuels your fire.

leave feelings for those who cant compete in the battle ground of the NFL.

I'm not a Viking Fan but I'm with what he said.......

  9. some people are just messed up like that

  10. If that's the case, I'm quite impressed with how quickly Allen has come up with a Vikings' team spirit.

I'm thinking he's nervous actually. His first game in a new uniform is on a Monday night. He has to prove himself to his new team and prove that the trade was worth it. The fans are probably ravenous to beat Green Bay after 2 skunkings at their hands last year, and, if possible wrest the division title from them. If knocking Rodgers out for the season will satisfy the fans, Allen will do it.
