Was this hypocritical of me?

I have this guy at work who has said a few negative things about me behind my back.

Today I was having a good day at work with him and a girl.

I then said that the guy has been saying thing about me behind myy back to the guy and the girl. I didn't quote what he said behind my back but I said that as long as he dosn't do it again then its fine.

As I was walking of with the girl she was curious about what he said behind my back so I quoted a few things and told her how after he was talking to a co-worker privatly, the co-worker has been avoiding me ever since.

Did I just do the same thing the guy did to me?

no, you just informed her of the situation. thats not the same as speaking badly about the guy behind his back

Probably..........try confronting him instead. Then you can tell anybody you want about his actions.

not quite, but if you truly let go, then you should throw it away some where, but deep inside you are probably a little pissed.  Make a firmness to rise above it like you truly want to do and don't speak of it any more. because one other thing no matter how much people say they will keep their mouth shut they don't, so hopefully nothing will bloom out of what you said to the other individuals, if it does, just apologize tell the individual it was human error and you are learning.

yes you did the same thing you were trying to avoid doing by continuing the situation. you shouldnt have even brought it up.  just blow the guy off when you show that what he says doesnt bother you (even if it does dont let on it just eggs him on)  just blow it off its not worth it
