so my friend had a pink ecstasty pill with a slit through the middle and said that someone said they didn't work but i took it for the first time ever and i felt amazing.... was it psychological... i just kept clenching my jaw and my eyes were super dilated... i dont know what to think... i can't tell if it was a pink playboy or not

Difficult to say really. If you knew the effects that ecstasy has then some of the effects could be placebo based. The pupil dilation could also be to do with speed or other amphetamines that are sometimes cut with or instead of ecstasy in pills. Therefore, it may have been the affects of speed that you were experiencing and and hence why your friend dismissed the pills as rubbish.

I would suggest that a friend who has taken ecstasy before would be the best judge. However, strengths of pills will vary, so it may just be that the ones you had weren't as strong as ones that they had previously had.

Well, the placebo effect could have been manifested, but, usually, the drug effects are so surreal and unrelated to normal sensory perceptions that the effect cannot be perceived by mental imagery alone.

And, the eye dilation is another indicator of authenticity.
