I was disappointed in this event. The way it was staged, the huge amount of time spent on hype compare to time fighting ( about 37 minutes of fighting in a show that lasted over 2 1/2 hours) was to similiar to pro-wrestling for me to be comfortable with.

MMA is a sport and should be broadcast as a sport NOT as a circus event.

That being said the fights themselves were fairly good inspite of a couple of questionable stopages.

  1. I feel like they were trying to center the whole event around Kimbo Slice. Don't get me wrong, he is a tough guy, but he should of not won tonight. Elite XC was a big dissapointment tonight.

  2. it sucked

  3. good and bad

good - this might increase the interest and growth of mma

bad - backyard brawlers hurting each other thinking they can do mma

show is free because of commercials, they pay for shows to air.  so far carano/young fight was decent, lawler/smith fight was good till the stoppage.  having kimbo as a mma fighter is a circus in itself.

  4. The fights were good?  Were you watching the same program?

EliteXC is a circus act.  It's an embarassment to the sport.

  5. Believe it or not I thought I liked the women fight more then the mens for some reason.

  6. I thought when the fighters entered the ring was the biggest joke around. I thought it was some WWE event. I was embarrassed for them. This can't be good for MMA. Everyone talks c**p about Dana White, but I know he wouldn't have his show looking like some circus. The UFC needs to get signed with a big company and show them what MMA is about!

  7. I thought the most skilled Muay Thai practitioners were the women.

The production was more like a wrestling event freak show than a top level MMA event.

Hopefully more people will become curious about MMA and watch some quality events in the UFC and WEC and even more important join a Brazilian Jujitsu or Muay Thai school and change their lives.

  8. It was bad, especially since it was free and people who are unfimiliar to great MMA organizations like the UFC, will have a bad first impression of MMA.

It's a freak show and Dana White should sign a deal with CBS to show 1 free UFC event so that the image is restored.

  9. lol at UFC fanboys crying over it, it was alright for what it was, I for one was not expecting a PPV type event on network tv, it seemed to me as a more introductory type show for those new to MMA, and for that it seemed decent.  The fights weren't terrible, they weren't UFC great either, but like I said I wasn't expecting it to be, they were good enough for those new to the sport to follow what was going on.

  10. Kimbo should not of won the fight! It was so staged. XC was definitly doing everything though could to save their claim to fame.....Kimbo

  11. I don't think this had any impact on MMA either way. While the quality of the fights were not top-card, they did expose a lot of new people to MMA, and if they found it interesting, they will look more into it and discover UFC, local MMA events, etc.

The program quality tonight was poor IMO, at least compared to UFC. Then again, CBS doesn't have any experience in promoting and producing MMA. They have experience in promoting and producing boxing, so they applied what they knew about boxing to MMA. It worked, but it could have worked better.

  12. dana white is definantly laughing his *** off.unforntinatly i am a tito fan and it looks like dana wins this won

  13. Do you know why fight time is 37 minutes in a show that lasted 2.3 hours? Because of commercials, someone have to pay for it. Or do you rather pay for pay per view only? Elite XC is free to us all so stop complaining and enjoy the show.
