Did the rally, reported by REUTERS news agency, an expression of the South Korean mainstream or just some minority of political opinion? -- story as reported in Politico dot-com

'U.S. President George W. Bush arrived in South Korea on Tuesday for talks focused on North Korea, his visit likely to be marked by anti-U.S. protests even though some disputes with his host have largely been put aside. Bush received a surprise boost when an estimated 15,000 people held a pro-U.S. rally in the centre of the capital.'

  1. Yes, there were supporters but.....

In reality there are more "anti-Bush Koreans" than supporters.

The ignorance of some Koreans astounds me.  Guys like killy gonso create a bad image of Korea by spreading the Anti-American sentiment.  Without the assistance of the U.S., Korea wouldn't be what it is today.

killy gonso: your reply confirms my comment.  It's people like you that make Americans dislike Korea.  I ignore bigots like you, but there are quite a few Americans in Korea that take offense to your comments.

  2. However, you're forgetting that there were actually 20,000 Anti-Bush protesters. They were the ones being gunned down by water cannons. Personally, I believe that although Korea is a relatively stable nation in terms of economy and is strong in terms of military, multilateral cooperation from countries (Including the US), is critical in expanding Korea's strength. And obviously, in the global economy, a couple of friends aren't bad. Can't speak for all of Korea though, but it would be foolish to deny any cooperation with the US. Although Korea has strong military capabilities, due to its location, it can easily be overrun. US help won't hurt. I'm not a big fan of Bush though. Those crazy Korean Catholics were holding a prayer service for him! That is so BS!

  3. 15,000 people? really??? I don't know I didn't read about that. but, there is 5,000,000 people gathered together to protest to Bush about mad cow disease. US Media don't provide anti American information which is majority for American propaganda(like American media didn't show scene of war in iraq). I am so ashamed of pro Americans in corea. Corea is only country who have pro-foreign country. how is that possible? well, they are the people who sell our country(seller of country how do you call it in English?) to other countries to get money so, they have to be pro American. we didn't kill pro Japan people after end of japanese rule in my country so, pro japan becomes now pro American and pro japan people accumulate a lot of money and fame so, they still rule and countrol the nation of corea. Corea is in bad situation now. and that's the fact. and those pro America(former pro japan) people try to brainwash corean people by saying we should OBEY to Master America. and they use wrong corean history that japanese created to make corean people brainwashed to control corean people easily so they can get the benefit from using people's neighbour and country and sell it to other country(mainly AMerica). they even say Corea has been 60 years from estabilish of the nation(Corean history is over 5000years since estabilish of the nation).and they say we are weak nation so, we have to depend on other nations(not true Corea has been always strong enough and have most advanced culture). that's why we corean people all hate pro US and call them seller of nation(매국노). 15,000people(I am strongly doubt that number) are just presentation of stupid brain washed people or sellers of Corea nation themselves. pro america in corea is basically like pro n**i in Europe after collapse of German empire for your understanding.. pro n**i all were killed by justice. but in Corea, we could not kill off pro japan because of the right away situation in corea which is Corean war . so, corean modern history has been wrong since then. It's complicated. sorry for my English.
