  1. As a minimum, All sales by any company within Australia are covered by the Trade Practices Act 1974.

The act outlines minimum standards for goods sold by any company within Australia. In the event that goods sold are not of good quality or are faulty, the customer has the right to a repair, replacement or a refund.

The act is designed to protect the customer being misled, either intentionally or unintentionally. This applies to all aspects of the promotion and sale of goods and services including: pricing; where the product was made; where the product is from; the meeting of Australian safety standards; availability of products in store and the sales techniques used. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) enforces the act.

The only requirement of the consumer is to provide proof of purchase.

Whilst I do not know Spotlight's specific policy, the above is the bare minimum you can expect.

  2. The refunds policy should be on the bottom of your docket/receipt.

If not just email them off their website http://www.spotlight.com.au/ I'm sure they will email you direct their policy.
