Question:

Was your birth experience surreal?

I am trying to be as prepared as possible. My first baby is due next Tuesday! I keep thinking it could happen anytime, but then it hasn't yet, so then I think maybe she'll be overdue.

I just have a feeling that it's going to happen "out of nowhere" (or when I least expect it, I guess) and next thing I know I'll have given birth and be home with my daughter... NOT that I think delivery will be easy, just that it's going to happen in a whirlwind, kinda...

  1. I didnt expect my labor to be NOTHING like it was...I sort of thought like you but didnt think it would be bad at all...

I was 12 days over due had to have my waters broke, was in labor for 17 hours had Gas & Air, Pethadine and an epidural, had forceps used to pull her out, split had stiches and my baby was 9lbs 4oz!!

Not easy!! lol you'll never know as every woman and every labor is different!!

Good Luck!! Hope everything goes well for you!!

  2. Mine wasnt because i was induced. So i knew it was happening. But the actual birth experience was very real and I was very aware of it!! lol.

  3. the day my son was born was the most unbelievably amazing day of my life! nothing compares to that feeling ..until you give birth again.it was so beautiful,,,,, even with my second son and now I am pregnant with my 3rd and cant wait ... youre in for the best day ever!!

  4. You always have 911, don't stress about it, it happens when it happens and I don't recall anything surreal about it, the pain came lightly at first, we drove to the hospital, the baby came out and I went to sleep.(just 12 hours from first light contraction to the birth)... Try not to have the baby in your room the first 24 hours you really need to sleep and you will have the child the next 18 years 24/7 there is no reason to make you 'bond' you were bonded carrying the baby for 9 months!

  5. it surely was, my daughter was due 4/9/05 and she was born 3/22/05. i went to a normal Dr's appointment, they told me i am labor and they are keeping me. I was admitted 1:00pm and she was born 6:53am the next morning. The whole experience was interesting. Best of luck to you. It can happen at any time. Good luck!!

  6. When it happens, it'll seem like it will never be over, but after you have your little one in your arms it seems like a whirlwind.

  7. I think you are just anxious, which you have every right to be! Congratulations!!!  I have four children and it was a bit surreal every time.  I never "went" into labor myself.  All of mine were late and I had to be induced.  What I wouldn't give for the SURPRISE of just going into labor all by myself!  It will be wonderful either way.  Calm down and enjoy your last week of pregnancy.

  8. I was induced at a week and a half over due..

I was scared to and always thought that I had a low threshold for

pain. I had my daughter almost totally natural and was suprised at

    my strength...

When I started pushing until a few hrs after having her ...it really

felt like an 'out of body experience ' and I couldn't believe what had

just happened and that she was mine...surreal doesn't even begin describe the feeling

    feeling lol !!

Don't underestimate yourself, it'll surprise you!

    cONGRATS & gOod Luck!!!!!
