Everytime i put a white shirt in the washing machine and then into the dryer my shirts come out with rusty spots on them. Any one have any idea what may be causing this? I'm not sure if its the washing machine or the dryer causing the problem, i just know its not on my shirts before they go in.

  1. after you are done with your loads in the washer  wipe it out with 409 or something and your dryer them 3 things in there them arms or what ever they are called they might need to come out of there to be cleaned bez thats whats probably causing the spots on the clothes.

  2. If your shirts have dots about the size of the tip on a ink pin the rust is coming from the washer. on back side of the basket has rust in the spin cycle the clothes are pushed through holes of the basket and touch the rust on the other side. If the shirts have streaks its from the dryer. check your warranty some baskets have a life time fore rust

  3. This may be coming from your washer or dryer.  Especially if you are leaving your laundry while still wet, in them.  You need to look on the insides of your machines and note if there is any rust developing on your drums, if so, you may need to remove them before continuing with your laundry or simply not leave them in so long they transfer the rust spots onto your clothing!  Good luck!

  4. It sounds like it is in the water! Take the hose off the water connection where the washer is connected to the water source and look at the screen.  You can tell if there is a lot of rust in your water, it will be clogged on that screen.  From there you will need to get or clean your water softener.

Meanwhile, use Whink to remove the rust stains.

  5. wash then in someone else machine and see what happens and check your machine for rust or run a cycle of bleach and then test again .....might be time for a new machine . also do you take your clothes out as soon as the cycle is finished and put  them in he dryer or out to dry

  6. Are you washing and drying with only other whites?  I'd recommend taking a look at the shirts coming out of the washing machine before you put them in the dryer - then you'll know the culprit.  Also, it shouldn't be happening to just whites, that's a bit odd - are you using any kind of bleach or detergent that's unusual?

  7. Had the same problems but came to the conclusion that it came from the side of the washer. The holes in the side contained rust that got transferred to the clothes. There is a rust remover for washers. Oh...don't use these plastic balls in the washer they tend to force the clothes to the sides of the washer. Hope this helps.
