Washer stops mid cycle-what could be the problem? It will turn on if I push and pull out the k**b again.?

Open your lid up and look for a loose hinge or a loose lid switch.

If the washer has a mechanical timer it may be wearing out. The older mechanical timers have a plastic cam with notches in it. As it slowly turns, it opens and closes electrical switches. When the plastic wears it can cause the cam to get stuck against one of the switches. At that point it will stay in that position till you come along and push and pull the k**b.
