My washing machine has decided not to turn the drum when washing, it does a short spin instead. Then at the end it doesn't spin very much. Any ideas?

  1. it sounds like the brushes have gone not an expensive job they cost about £12.99 a set can your husband do the job?otherwise call out an engineer but expect to pay about £50 for the job

  2. Sounds like a serious problem, could be the timer or speed module either way its £60+ but could end up being a lot more.

If it were the brushes it would not turn at all and if it were the filter being blocked it would turn ok on the wash. I think you have to bite the bullet and either call an engineer or buy a new one. Good luck.

  3. Sounds like the brushes in the motor. Fairly easy to change and quite cheap to buy.

Up lug it and turn it round so you can get to the back. Remove the back and you should see the motor near the bottom somewhere.

On the side of the motor you should see some s***w cap. If you unscrew these you should find the brushes.

Just remove them and stick in a new pair.

Type the make and model of your washing machine into google to find somewhere that sells spare parts (there's loads). The last pair I bought for mine where about £20.

Or you may find when you've taken the back off the belt might of broken.

  4. mine stoppes spinning altogether it was the belt that had gone and the motor, had to replace it...have you cleaned the filter, sometimes this can cause it to stop spinning?

  5. Get a new one
