Question:

Washing Chairs with bleach?

I have to clean about 20 little chairs for kids at a daycare center.

They tell me to spray the chairs with some bleach.

Then use a big bowl that can fit the size of a chair. Fill it with a bit of water. Wear my gloves and use the scrub and scrub it. After scrubbing. Do I need to rinse it? Also, can I use the same water from the bowl for the rest of the chairs?

  1. yes you need to rinse very thoroughly but it sounds odd to immerse a entire chair in a pan of water...seems like it would be easier to just scrub and rinse under running water...

  2. ok.. bleach can be irriating to sensitive  skin.. alot of younger kids had problems with that.. not to mention.. it may damage he kids cloths, there is a new clorox spray that is as gental as soap and water.. http://www.clorox.com/products/overview....

I would advise that you talk to your supervisor or whoever is in charge and present that to them.. Goodluck.. clorox wipes work really well for cleaning too!!

  3. Make sure you get the bleach off of the chairs. Little kids like to chew on things. I don't see why you can't use the same water from the bowl?

  4. it would be best to rinse, little childrens skin is very sensitive to chemicals and you can use the same water but replace it if it gets dirty or murky

  5. yes they wouldn't be that dirty and you would have to rinse Them i would guess

  6. You do not need to rinse unless the chairs are naked wood, meaning no finish on them.  Bleach only lasts for 24 hours and the residue will not harm the kids.  As long as the water in the bowl is clear you can keep using it.
