Washing Machine running costs

Question

I'm using my friends washer as mine is out of action and we wanted to know how much per wash I should pay. I provide the detergent but would you know the cost of water (ie per litre) the cost of electric used. We thought about £3 per 40degree wash. Do you think this is right?

electricity 20-40p max

water less than 1p

I do not know the actual running costs, £3 seems a fair enough price. It would cost more at a launderette
