  1. wow it has been so long since I have had to wash a white horse and there are so many new products on the market since I have owned one that I am not really sure what works best now. I would talk to your local horse supply store and see if they have any reccomendations.

  2. ask at  your local tack store

  3. I totally agree with Brooke.

Quicksilver is a GOD! Plus, it isn't too pricey. I love it.

Also, Cowboy Magic works wonders, too.

    Try them both!

  4. I had really good luck with Farnam White'n'Brite, with just a bit of Mrs Smith's blueing added in the mixture.  Lather up well, let them set just a bit, then rinse, rinse, rinse, or you will have a blue horse.

  5. the best thing i have ever used is QUICK SILVER IT IS AMAZING i have a grey pony and a horse with 4 white socks quick silver is the only thing i use i do use COWBOY MAGIC GREEN SPOT REMOVER some times if i need to get them clean really quick but i trust quick silver if u are already using quick silver some times i a white baby podwer on their socks so they stay whiter even if they sweat thats all the tips i have i hope i helped

  6. Quick Silver!!! I have a black + white Paint (mostly white) and lays down EVERY night in her manure! We wash her every day with Purex! Purex works really well! If you have stains you cant get out THAN use that quick siler..its prurple so DONT leave it in to long!

  7. Mane & Tail seems to work pretty well on just about anything.

  8. There's some Glo-White Equinade shampoo, don't use this! It turned parts of my Cremello purple! Not very attractive in shows!! I just stick to the regualar shampoo now.

  9. Well my old pony Franky used to poo all down his hocks and tail. so we used hot water and sunlight soap (From ur supermarket) and then followed with any whitening shampoo. Try to get something that is purple, they work the best.

    Try different ones.

    Be brave EXPERIMENT

But do becareful... I turned my grey pony's tail lavendar coloured.

  10. they have its called Vetrolin Green Spot it works soo well on my horse

  11. I don't know how much this will help you, but I have show rabbits and use regular white vinegar on really tough hutch stains. It works REALLY well and is cheap too. Of course after you use it you may want to wash over it with a better smelling shampoo to get the vinegar smell off. But it works great for removing stains.

  12. put baby powder on the brush and it keeps them whitee

  13. check out your tack shop as they usually have a range of shampoos, conditioners especially for different colours of horses..   ie for greys or palominos or blacks etc.

years ago i used fairy washing up liquid with no problems, but make sure any shampoo is thoroughly rinsed out.

for white markings the chalk blocks are good, again from your tack shop.

happy shampooing.  hope it's warm for you both.

  14. Orvus shampoo is amazing it gets my horse's white spots almost immaculate

  15. Hello,

We have 7 paints that have LOTS of white on them. Here are our top picks for making white coats, manes and tails bright and clean.

Here is one premade, ready to order solution, it works best on the body and isn't what we prefer for the mane and tail:

FOR extra soft, body, mane and tail we use either of these shampoos. The Orvus is HIGHLY concentrated and you get LOTS of product for your money!:

NOW for the SECERT ingredient! YOU don't have to pay for pre-made whitening shampoos, which are expensive and you only get a small quantity. WE add this to either of the above shampoos, or a shampoo of your choice. LATHER, let sit on the coat, mane, and tail for 10 minutes and rinse throughly.

YOU only add this whitener SPARINGLY to your shampoo, only a few drops are needed for the whole horse! This bottle will last years with one horse. YOU get this right in the grocery store, in the laundry section!

ONE key thing for washing horses is to RINSE and RINSE more... YOU don't want any soap left, it will YELLOW the coat over time!

Have fun at the shows and GOOD luck!

YOUR best bet is to wash your horse a few times over next couple of weeks before the show, to get the coat extra bright.

While this link recommends putting the bluing in the rinse water we normally add it to the shampoo. If you did both it would probably work pretty good.

  16. I used to ride on a drill team of white horses and we always washed them with liquid blueing..... It's an old-timey product so you might have trouble finding it, but it really did make them really bright white.

  17. on my horse i just use main and tail and it works pretty good
