Question:

Washing a styrofoam beanbag chair?

My 3 year old daughter is potty training and had unfortunately (and annoyingly) peed on a bean bag chair. I have washed the outer material before, but I've never washed the bean bag itself. The material that houses the styrofoam is not waterproof or anything, so the mess just soaked right through the entire bag. There is no zipper or any way to take out the styrofoam, so I'm wondering if anyone has ever put of of those things in a washing machine on gentle cycle or something. I'm afraid of ruining it, but at this point, if I dont try something, its already ruined. Any help?

  1. Well if it were mine, I would spray it with something mild like Simple Green, then I would hose it down really well. Repeat the process, and leave it for a couple days in the sun to dry but rotating it every few hours. A cold water rinsing should not hurt the inner lining. Machine washing can ruin the seams and you can loose the beads. Now that would be a big mess to clean up on the washer and or the dryer. You could also use the shower to rinse it, but again put it outside to dry.
