i am a m/seaman and on board the ship washing is called doby where does the word doby come from

  1. My husband used that word all the time.  He was in the navy, and that is where he picked up the word.  I never thought to ask him if he knew where the word comes from.  I couldn't find any references to it.

  5. when in the far east,they refer to the doby as the laundry and dry cleaner.
