Washing blankets.........what can I do to get rid of these " Dust Mites"

I have a Cotton Velor blanket I need washed...I've had it for about 2yrs and never washed it....any ideas how I can clean it ......my washer will not handle it because its to big & heavy...and I don't want to take it to the

Laundry Mat......any home ideas you all can share with me..?

Soak in detergent overnight in the bath. Wring out.

Drip dry on line.
