  1. Firstly, cover all electronics and the alternator with aluminum foil. This will prevent water from getting into it. Next, use P21s Total Auto Wash and spray the engine compartment. Let it dwell for a few minutes. Then scrub using a Boar's hair brush; it has very gentle bristles that will not scratch plastics and rubber. After you're done, rinse with water using a light stream; there is no need to flood the engine bay. Then dry the engine bay using microfiber clothes and use a leaf blower to get in between crevices. Finally, use Adam's In and Out and spray the compartment; it outlasts armor all and works very well. NOTE: make sure your engine is not hot and work in a shady area.

  2. i spray degreaser on everything and shoot water to rinse it off.  i don't directly shoot the alternator, dist cap, EGR solenoid, and spark plug area.  Ive never had any prob, beside the odd missfire from shooting the dist cap. if you have coil packs then don't shoot those either, it not the packs themselves, its the water getting to the spark plug tube causing a missfire.

  3. just use a strong degreaser and a small scrub brush and a water hose... everything becomes perfectly clean then after if you want, you can apply something called engine bright, it makes all the plastic and rubber parts look like they have been armoralled kinda like when you first buy the car and then engine looks so good... good luck...

  4. Engine Brite, is the name of the stuff i use

  5. Cleaning the engine (as in, removing the oil and dirt) on the street might be against the law in your county. That said, you can buy products at the auto parts store that are for this purpose. You let the engine cool down, put a plastic bag over your distributor, spray on the degreasing agent, wait about 15 minutes, and hose off.

You might need to do it a couple times, especially if you are trying to clean the bottom of the engine. You need to be very careful not to get water in areas it shouldn't be, like your air cleaner, distributor, engine cabin filter, etc.
