When I start my washing machine, water shoots out the back, out the drain hole. Any idea what's causing this, or what I can do to fix it?

  1. There are a few things that can cause this. The drain line can be cloged or you could have a problem with the hose that you are using.

  2. Is there a drain hose on the Washer?

If no- then you need one.

If yes- then is it inserted in the drain?

If no- then put it in the drain.

If yes- then your drain is plugged....you might need a plumber. You may can unstop it with a drain cleaner- not a liquid like "draino" but with a "snake". Its a flexible cable that you push down into your drain to break through the clog.

  3. It sounds like the end of the drain hose isn't high enough up.  The hose needs to be at least as high as the highest water level, otherwise it will all pour out.

  4. Just check whether the draining pipe from the washing machine is properly fitted into the drainage whole. In my house, the draining pipe from the washing machine wasn't properly fit, and so, the water from the washing machine spread through out the floor and some went unbelievably, inside the washing machine itself. I think it must be due to the base of the washing machine, which was touching the floor. It didn't have any stand or such sort of thing, to stand on. So, it got repaired and even sparks came out. Unfortunately, we had to buy another one. So, just check whether the pipe which rains the water out of the washing machine is proper, or else there can be internal damage, if the water starts leaking out inside. Better call a repairman and get your washing machine checked.

  5. Sounds like you have a problem.
