  1. could be a broken belt

  2. CONSULT MORTICIAN

  3. Most washing machines today don't have belts but, shafts with a clutch in between. This is probably what went out.

There pretty easy to change, and they cost about fifteen bucks.

  4. Odds are that the belt is broken, preventing spinning. Empty the washer of water and tilt it forward onto it's side. You should see a belt running between 2 pulleys, much like your car. If this is missing or broken take it to an auto parts store for a replacement (faster and cheaper than calling maytag). If the belt is intact then you have a transmission or motor problem and may need to call a repair person or get a new washer.

Also check the safty switch and make sure it seems to be working (it is what keeps it from spinning if the lid is open.

  5. Ok I have seen my husband do this before so I think I can help. There is a gear in the back of the nachine. So step one and most important step is unplug it/ Then look for the gear or wheel with the lttle plastic teeth on it. Most of the time the teeth have broken off and keep the wheel from spinning and that keeps the barrel inside from working. Now look for a 1-800 number and call with the model number and make of machine and you can order it online or they can tell you where to pick the part up at. I hope I helped and that that is the problen it's an easy fix. I say that cause my husband did all the work. ; )

  6. The clutch is broken.

The motor is connected to a pump directly and to the transmission by a clutch.

    Turn power "OFF".

Disconnect  pump from motor /some kinds of brackets/.

You don't need to unhook the water hoses.

    Disconnect motor /other brackets/.

And then on other side , between motor and transmission is the clutch.

Take it to an appliance parts store, buy new one and replace it.
