  1. Most vets don't recommend washing your cat in the tub.  I would go to the local pet store and buy some of those "cat cleaning wipes".  I've used those on my cat before.  She doesn't love them, but they are easy and quick.  They will leave your cat smelling fresh and looking better.  Another option is a dry shampoo.  The article in my source has good advice for an actual water bath.

  2. Okay all cats hate water first of all, and secondly its unnecessary to bathe a cat they do it by themselves. You know when she licks her self she is cleaning herself.

EDIT: Get flea ointment if she has fleas.

  3. The cat isn't the boss of you. You're the boss of her. If she runs out of the bathtub and go hides outside the bathroom, then close any doors that leads that out there. (If you know that already) Or tempt her with catnip. ^_^

  4. Unless you are very experienced and the cat is particularly calm, you should probably get a helper. Choose a patient, cat-oriented person and let him or her know what bathing a cat is all about. Make sure it is someone your cat knows and likes.

Make all the preparations you need before you bring the cat into the bathroom. Get all the bathing equipment ready and get all breakable items in the bathroom well out of the way. Cats don't like the slippery feel of the bathtub, so place a rubber mat on the bottom of the tub. Your cat will need it to grip onto.

  5. fill the tube up before you put her in and then stick her in there and do baby talk and comfort her and scratch her at the same time.

  6. You pick her up and put her in.....you're bigger than she is.

  7. your not supposed to clean cats, they're not dogs! cats clean themselves by l*****g themselves, just leave her be

  8. Lure her into the tub. Find her favorite toy or treat and bring it into the bathroom. Once she is in shut the door.

Once you have her the tub, calm her down by petting her and talking to her.once she is calm, then start shampooing with the treatment. The take a small cup of water and slowly rinse her. That way,the next time she needs a bath, she will be a bit more calm.

    Hope this helped

  9. We used to get our cat in the shower and close the door, he used to try to get out but my sister used to grab him and quickly wash him down. Sister got wet aswell obviously but that was the only way we could wash him lol.. We let him clean himself but only washed him when he got really really dirty after being out in the mud, and got our carpet dirty.

  10. I tried to do the same thing to my cat.I tied her up but that did not work.I went to check it up on net but found out that cats don't hate water, they just hate the coldness of the water.Put your cat in the empty bath tub before adding WARM water.Your cat would try to get out that much.By the way cats clean themselves.Their saliva when they l**k themselves clean keeps germs and bacteria from growing.(Effective on cats only!)So I did suggest you give it a short warm bath.Too much bath makes your cat does not even want to go near the bath tub even if it is a dry one.

  11. Hold it under water for about 3 mins then it will stop fighting.

  12. Well, pick her up and put her in the tub.  Hopefully you have a handheld shower head - that's the easiest way.  OR use your sprayer in the kitchen sink.

Usually, if you can hold them by the scruff of their neck (gently but firmly) they won't move too much.  Soak her, shampoo her, rinse her and then wrap her up in a towel.  I take mine into the bathroom and shut the door while I towel dry them (limited space to take off!).  Once you've gotten her pretty well towel-dried, let her go - she'll take care of the rest.

    PS:  do it quickly!

  13. Most cats are able to clean themselves and do not need a bath.  All cats seem to hate water.  If it is necessary to wash the cat, use the kitchen sink, much smaller area to control.  Wrap cat in a towel to keep from scratching and clawing.  You can really get hurt if you're not careful.

  14. youre not suppose wash cats

    they wash themselfs

by l*****g them with there tonges

  15. if you go to the pet store they should have pet wipes for cleaning them. their really hard to find though

  16. Cats don't need bathing unless they get into something really nasty, they clean themselves.

** Yeah, you should have mentioned the flea thing in the beginning. I would put her in the sink with only a few inches of tepid water, wet her with a cup, soap her down keeping water out if her ears, shampoo out of eyes and rinse her with the sprayer. Then get the stuff you apply to the area between her shoulder blades once a month so you don't have to perform such a traumatic act again..........

  17. I wouldnt try that if i were you. I tried that and now I have permanent scars on my arms. Just get a wet rag with some soap or cat cleaner and wash your cat like that.

But good luck with the bathtub thing. Your going to need it.

  18. If she still has her claws, then you need to wrap them in wash clothes and rubber bands.  It would be easier in the kitchen sink or basin.  You will  have to hold her close to you.  Hold her down by the scruff of her neck.  Use a pitcher or handheld sprayer to get her wet.

  19. Don't cats clean themselves?

  20. i think all cats hate water.. my cat hates water and despises when i bathe her, but i do every other month anyways. she squirms around and i get soaked but, she'll be clean when i get done:)

I think that some pets store have like a cage or something to put in the bathtub and it keeps the cat from scratching you all up or there's the small leash on a suction cup that makes the cat stay in the tub. good luck bathing, and hope you dont get too scratched up:)

  21. first before making her take a bath ( like 2-3 days before)  get her a little used to water spray her a little put your wet hands on her ect. then on the bath day put on a t-shirt you dont care bout cause she might stratch it. put a little water in the tub then put the cat (carry her)

bring many treats and give them to her all through the bath. clean everything but put no soap in her eyes, nose, ears or mouth. remeber cats clean them selves so only clean her if she is REALLY dirty.

  22. Well, my cats are declaws, so when they come home all dirty and muddy, I put on my bathing suit, fill up the tub with warm (not hot and not cold) water, take my cat and sit in the tub with it between my legs. That way, it is easier to shampoo them since I have my 2 hands free.

And, no need to say that they DON'T like it haha

  23. cats clean themselves, dude
