Question:

Washing my face=Break outs?

So I wash my face twice a day (once at like 11:00 am, once @ around midnight-2:00 AM...lol, I go to sleep VERY late, hey, it's summer time!)

and sometimes I do admit I go 2 days max. w/o washing my face sometimes.

Anyway, I was using this Mary Kay Oil Control Lotion, it did make some pimples smaller but I did notice a bunch of new pimples caused by it, so my mom told me to stop using it. Well, I stopped using it about 2 wks ago.

Anyway, I currently wash my face with plain old soap & water but today I notice right after I washed my face for the second time, some acne popped up on my right cheek bone & my left lower cheek/chin. It's sort of pinkish-red, but that color isn't really noticeable, and it itches a bit when I touch it/scratch it.

What is this? How can I get rid of it? Why did I get this, even though I wash my face?

  1. Was you face twice daily with a good cleanser soap strips your face of natural oils therefore producing more oil.  You should be using a product that cleanses exfoliates and tones the skin as well as a good oil free moisturizer.  If you don't give you skin proper hydration it produces more oil.  Oil control lotion is for people with oily skin  and is only part of a skin care system so you wont get the best results using half the product.  Mary Kay makes a great teen line called velocity ask you consultant assuming you have one since you are already using the oil control lotion.

Skin care is only part of blemish control so many factors including pillow cases, hair and hair products drinking water, exercise diet sleep are all part of healthy skin.

  2. I believe that washing your face with certain soaps actually makes you break out worse. Because I believe that it can potentially clog the pores worse than they were before. My aunt told me that she never used soap and always just cleaned her face with warm water, even to get her make-up off, and she never really had acne. She also told me to try it for 3ish weeks, but I've yet to try it.

    I personally use neutrogena's oil-free acne wash,

it seems to work for me and when i finish, makes my face feel less oily and more smooth.

it may not work for you, but hey, it's a start.

  3. holy h**l! i wash my face 4 times a day! you should wash it when it starts getting oily

  4. lol ok its prolly a rash of sum strange kind just use lotion on it and u got it from not washing ur face with the same chemicals cause ur face gets used to the chemicals and trys to rid of the bad things in the chemicals when u put it on but when u stoped using it ur face thought u were using it and ya... and if that doesnt work try proactive and if it doesnt work either go to a doctor and then they give u special meds! like meee!!!! lol i have acne poison to saveer- moderate ... which is bad.... lol what u have now prolly is moderit - moderit.... if u no what im talking about lol

  5. You dont say how old you are?, if its just acne you will grow out of it, no amount of soap water or any other products will cure toatally just ride it out.

wash morning and at night like normal but try some Tea Tree oil soap may help.

  6. oh hun, soap and water wont do it, get the clean and clear acne 3 step system, i bought it and it cleared up my face. and im alegic to alot of junk

  7. You need to do some research on skin care products for your face. There is a heap out there (and no soap and water is not one of them), when you find one that suits your skin type make sure you start using it daily!!! (And yes this means you MUST MUST MUST wash your face EVERYDAY!!!!!!!!).

    Good Luck!!

  8. washing your face twice a day is good. once when you wake up and then befor eyou go to bed. also staying up late can also be causing the pimples. i know b/c i do the same as you are lol

use a face lotion that is oil free b/c that will def. keep the pimples at bay. DO NOT keep using plain soap. it will dry your face out even more and cause your skin to produce more natural oils and clog the pores. use a good brand of face wash like murad. its what i use and my skin have made a big improvement

  9. Well, the type you were using before didn't work for your skin and then you used normal soap and water which irritated it even more. The best thing to do is to take a warm not hot washcloth and put it were it itches. And remember,NEVER use normal soap and water on skin.I suggest Clean&Clear Black Head scrub. It is amazing. Thanks and happy cleansing!!

  10. it can either be a bug bite or you can be allergic to the soap

try neutrogenas oil free ance wash daily scrub

    doesnt irritate skin

and work well.i use it all the time

  11. i think you may be allergic to the soap.

  12. Did you really think people only get acne when they don't wash their face.

  13. I've had this same issue recently.  Ironically my breakouts are in the same places, chin and cheekbone.  Do you take multi vitamins or other OTC supplements?  Excessive amounts of B-12, Vitamin E, or Vitamin C can cause such breakouts.  Washing your face twice daily is average.  Use a mild acne wash (Clean & Clear).  I here Murad has good acne products but they are very pricey.  I tried a 10% benzoyl peroxide acne treatmeat and it made matters worse.

If none of the acne products work, you may need to see a doctor regarding your acne and/or hormones.

  14. You got this because you're stressing out your skin using plain old soap and water! The ingredients in a bar of soap are way too harsh for anyone's face!

It seems to me that you have sensitive skin like i do. I use VICHY Norma Derm Gel. Gels are the best option for face washes because they are thicker and a lot more moisturizing. Stay away from foams and anything harsh smelling, but anything too scented and perfumed will also cause our break outs.

    My beauty regimen:

    1. I wash my face twice daily with Vichy Normaderm Gel.

    2. Twice a week I use a soft, non-harsh peel to get excess dirt and oil off of my face that my face wash can't get.

    3. Once a week, (usually on sundays) I put my face close to a bowl of hot water so that the humidity warms up my face and pores. Then I use neutrogena sensitive skin facial scrub and scrub my face, It is a bit coarser then most scrubs but it works! Finish this off with rubbing an ice cube all over your face until it melts, this closes off your pores.

Remember to pat your face dry with a face towel, don't rub!

And use a different towel that you use from your body to your face.

  15. your probably not allergic to soap. but soap and water is not good for your skin. you should buy some sort of an exfoliator. something griddy to really get into your pores. that mary kay stuff is not worth what you pay. and i know. i stay up late too. and i hardly get a chance to wash my face. heres what i reccomend:

1: exfoliate as much as possible

    2: dont touch your face

3: get enough sleep (lack of sleep causes acne and breakouts)

    4: drink tons of water.

5: make sure your eating fruits and veggies

but most importantly, dont pick at your face!

hope i could help. im going through the same stuff as you and thats whats helped me.
