Washing.....?

I've got a couple of tops that are kind of double layered. 1 is black with white bits at the sleeves and neck as if i was wearing a white t shirt under a black jumper and the other is similar in a light grey and pink with a white shirt effect underneath. i'm struggling with how best to wash them as i can't get the white to stay white. I put the black top in my dark wash and the other 1 with my pastel colours so for both the white bits have gone a greyish colour. can i get them back to being white and how do I avoid this happening in the future? thanks

  1. Yes you can... use Vanish, one tablespoon of the "oxygen" solution would turn your whites white again without harming other colours...

I'd recommend you to leave your shirts in a salted solution for some hours (could be during the night) so that the colours stay (once you get the grey out)

    Hope this helps!!!

  2. I use Borax and it works really well.  Arm and Hammer makes a laundry soda also.

  3. put a tablespoon of baking soda in with the washing powder... i had a yellow top that went green once! then i read about baking soda, tried it and it went back yellow again :)

it also enhances colours.. makes colours brighter and whites whiter!

  4. Never buy a light and dark coloured top

  5. vanish does work

or use woolite (not just for wool)

  6. prob best to wash in cool water.

  7. You can but a product called colour catcher which you pop into your machine and it will stop any colours running as it says it's a colour catcher so your colours won't bleed into each other and it should keep the whites looking good as the colours are caught buy the colour sheet

  8. Vanish similar to bleach in mexico. I have not seen product here in Southern California.

I just recently bought a product called Super Iron Out and use to remove rust. On bottle it says you can use it in white laundry and many other uses such as Title with warm water. let soak for 5 minutes. After I got finish washing 2 whole loads of laundry of socks & t-shirts. They came out much newer looking. Some of the laundry need to be re-wash. I think the longer you let it soak the better.
