Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins set for deciding Game 7 -NHL Playoffs Preview
Washington Capitals need to advance to keep their pride alive while Boston Bruins are set to defend their Stanley Cup championship as both teams prepare for the deciding Game 7 of the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Eastern Conference Playoff Quarterfinal
series.
Both Washington and Boston have had equal luck playing at home and on foreign territory but now, as Bruins are well known to be the team that disappoints the opposition, Capitals could be having a tough time.
Bruins will definitely need to be their best, something Boston head coach, Claude Julien, terms as not having seen as of yet in the series. Working the magic they had last season will eventually let them blow through to the semi-finals.
"Both teams are just really resilient and I think both teams have a lot of character," Bruins’ Brad Marchand, said after practice Tuesday. "And when you have guys like that in the room and on the ice, a little momentum swing won't affect guys and they can
bounce back fairly quickly from it."
Going into the playoffs, Washington was not expecting to go this far in the playoffs, especially against a team like Boston Bruins, but now it is down to Game 7 and it will be more intense than ever.
"You don't think about it too much. You hear about it and you recognize that, but it's not something where we'll say, `Oh, we're gonna beat them because we've beat them before on their rink," Washington defenseman, Karl Alzner, said. "Every game is going
to be different. We just really have to remember the simple things and play that simple game.”
The match will definitely come down to a battle between the goalies as veteran Boston net-minder, Tim Thomas, will work his experience while rookie Washington goaltender, Braden Holtby, will be hoping for a miracle to save the day.
Playing in the TD Garden is never easy for either team as both will be pressured by the on-the-edge crowd. Game 7 of the Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins quarterfinal series will begin at 7:30 PM ET on Wednesday night, April 25, 2012.
